Last weekend we had racers at three different locations! N. Blasey posted two top 30 results in the Eastern Regional U18 Finals at Gore; one in Super G and one in GS. Very respectable considering the competition was the top racers from several states in the eastern half of the country. This was Nick’s 3rd consecutive year that he competed in a post season event. We are pleased to announce that B. Baughman (U12) has received an invitation to the Piches Event at Gunstock, NH. Blake earned top ten finishes in 4 of his 6 runs at the U12 State Derby at SKI Roundtop to earn the invitation. He becomes the 4th HVRC racer to go to post season competition over the past three years. N. Castracani (U12) also competed in the U12 Derby, posting top 20 finishes in all but one of his runs. Finally, D. Kukla (U14) finished all six of his runs at the U14 State Derby at 7 Springs and participated in Super G training as well.
Our year end banquet is scheduled for this Saturday, March 8th. We will hold our annual dual slalom on lower Imperial beginning at 9:30 AM. This is also Photo Day for those parents hoping for action pictures of their favorite racers. We will take a club photo during the slalom as well. The Spring parent meeting will start at 4:30 PM in the Yukon. HVRC Board members will be voted in at the parents meeting. The banquet will also be in the Yukon and it starts at 5:30 PM. We need to know if you are coming NOW! Siblings (future club members) are invited. If you have not already done so, you may advise Kathy (cc’d) or myself that you are coming or you may use our website signup, http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080F4BADAE2DA31-endofseason . The cost for the banquet is $20 for adults and $13 for those under the age of 12. HVRC club member racer’s banquet dinner is covered by their membership. Randy Myers will be the entertainment. Once dinner is over (about 7 PM), we will keep with tradition and open the doors for Hidden Valley families to join us and enjoy the evening. Alcoholic refreshments will be available at a cash bar.
We are working on scheduling an Open Cup for Spring Carnival. Plans will be announced as soon as details are available.
We encourage current members and past-members to sell any no-longer-used club wear and ski/board equipment and clothing. There will be two ways to do this:
1) Bring items to the meeting and banquet this Saturday. You may offer items for sale directly to other members; if your gear doesn’t sell, you will need to take it with you at the end of the banquet.
2) Hold on to the items for the Fall; we anticipate that there will be another “Ski Club Weekend” and “Willi’s Giant Swap” at 7Springs in November. This swap is unique in that it involves so many clubs and you designate 10% of your sell price to the race club of your choice and 5% to the swap organizers.
Please note that the next Avalanche order for club jackets and other ski apparel will not be until November 15th, 2014.
