Three HVRC racers competed in the state derbies and PA Cup Races at Elk Mountain this past weekend. N. Blasey (U18) ran two good GS races; finishing 10th and 14th out of 91 racers. W. Wanovich (U16) started near the back of the pack in Saturday’s slalom race and finished 44th overall; a very respectable finish given his start position. G. Berner (U16), in his 1st derby, finished all six runs in three races as one of the last racers to run the course. There were multiple DNF’s all three days so finishing all of his runs was a good achievement. We are pleased to announce that N. Blasey received an invite to the Eastern Regional U18 Finals at Gore this weekend. This will be Nick’s 3rd post season event. He joins D. Kukla (U14), B. Baughman (U12 and N. Castracani (U12) who will all be racing in PA State events this weekend.
This Saturday will be a club ski for those racers interested. Club members should meet at 9:15 AM. Those not away at races should take the opportunity to join your friends and ski as a club.
Our year end banquet is scheduled for Saturday, March 8th. We will hold our annual dual slalom on lower Imperial beginning at 9:30 AM. This is also Photo Day for those parents hoping for action pictures of their favorite racers. We will take a club photo during the slalom as well. The Spring parent meeting will start at 4:30 PM in the Yukon. HVRC Board members will be voted in at the parents meeting. If you are interested in a board position, please let me know by March 2nd. The banquet will also be in the Yukon and it starts at 5:30 PM. We need to know if you are coming. Siblings (future club members) are invited.
RSVP: If you have not already done so, you may advise Kathy (cc’d) or myself that you are coming or you may use our website signup, http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080F4BADAE2DA31-endofseason that should be available later this week. RSVP’s must be completed by March 4th. The cost for the banquet is $20 for adults and $13 for those under the age of 12. HVRC club member racer’s banquet dinner is covered by their membership. Randy Myers will be the entertainment. Once dinner is over (about 7 PM), we will keep with tradition and open the doors for Hidden Valley families to join us and enjoy the evening. Alcoholic refreshments will be available at a cash bar.
