HVRC had racers competing in two events over the weekend; The Critchfield GS Race at 7 Springs on Saturday and The Wisp Classic Slalom Race at Wisp on Sunday.  G. Berner (U16) earns his first ever USSA podium finishing 2nd at Wisp.  B. Baughmann (U12) get two 2nd place finishes, R. Castracani (U10) wins his age group at 7 Springs while N. Blasey (U18) takes home 2nd place in his group.  H. Hessinger (U10) adds a 2nd place at Wisp to her trophy collection.  We will be confirming derby invitations over the next few days.  If your racer is contacted and accepts a derby invite, please advise us asap.

Thanks to all of the HVRC club members, parents, Ski Patrol, and Ski School folks that helped with Special Olympics Monday & Tuesday!  Everyone is commended for hanging in there for a long cold day on Monday and making the adjustments to overcome the delays caused.

Our annual Race Clinic is scheduled for this Saturday/Sunday February 15/16.  The race clinic is for both HVRC and non-members, and it runs from 10 AM – 3 PM both days.  The clinic is typically held on Comet on Saturday and Imperial and/or Cobra on Sunday.  This is our best opportunity to interest younger skiers in racing.  The clinic is included in HVRC membership.  For those that are interested in trying out a bit of race training, this is a great opportunity to get some race training and learn a bit about HVRC!  Non-members pay $140 for both days, which includes an Open Cup Race.  Racers are responsible for ensuring they have a lift ticket or season pass.  We are accepting entries through Saturday morning.  You may contact Customer Service or Ski School at Hidden Valley or just show up Saturday morning.  Payment is due to HVRC Saturday morning.  Racers are to meet at 9:15 AM in the Yukon.  Coaches and racers need to be booted up by 9:45 AM.  The clinic includes lunch both days and the Open Cup Race on Sunday.

Notes to racers:  We will try to run a slalom course on Saturday on Barracuda and/or Sunday on Thunderbird.  The rest of the clinic events are GS based.  They will be on Comet (Saturday) and Imperial on Sunday.

For Race Clinic helpers, please note the following.  Set up will start at 8:30 AM.  Meet Ralph outside Ski Patrol if you are available to help.  Saturday Tear down will occur at 3 PM.  Those helping with teardown should meet at the top of Comet.  Sunday teardown will occur at the conclusion of the Open Cup on Imperial.  Those helping with registration and donuts should be in the Yukon at 9 AM.  Those helping with lunch need to be in the Yukon by 11:30 AM.  There will be lunch both days.
