Pre-Season Ski Sales

October 27, 2011

First of all, we had asked about interest in a pre-season buffet November 6th.  Unfortunately, most of our club members already have other plans so the preseason buffet will not be held this year.  Thanks to Amy Allegra for handling the dialogue with HV!  The board is considering some other ideas to coincide with the beginning of ski season.

Willi’s at 7 Springs is once again hosting a “Pro Sale” on Sunday, October 30th from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.  As USSA racers and coaches, those with active USSA registrations that are on our club roster are invited to attend.  This sale includes high end racing equipment and accessories that USSA members can purchase at significant discounts.  The sale targets J1 – J3 racers.  You need to bring the attached letter and your USSA card.

Cycle Sport & Ski in Greensburg will be having a pre-season sale Nov 5 & 6, 2011.  The owner, Bob Krolick, is anxious to work with the HVRC racers and families. He will extend racer discounts to those with valid USSA membership. He may not have full race stock gear on the shelf but represents a number of different lines and can bring in requested gear within a couple of days.  See the attached mail for address and contact info.  Jeff Seranko has a rep relationship with the shop and may be able to provide additional info if there are questions.

Mon Valley Ski Club’s swap sale is 11/20. This is usually a good one – a wide variety of ski& snowboard gear.http://www.monvalleyskiclub.org/calendar/

If any of our parents are interested in becoming involved with PARA as alpine officials, please contact Ralph for more information.  There is a certification process that includes clinics.  There is an AO Clinic scheduled for Sunday, December 11th that will be held at 7 Springs (see attached mail).  You do have to sign up in advance.  Once certified, you will be able to qualify for some of the positions required to run a race such as Alpine Referee, Start Referee, Finish Referee, etc.  Some of these positions dictate how races are run and allow you to have direct oversight in ensuring races are run according to USSA rules.
