Sixteen HVRC racers competed in the Critchfield GS Race at 7 Springs on Sunday, January 27th. Congratulations to H. Hessinger (U10) as she finishes both runs in her 1st USSA race and wins 3rd place! The Bigatel boys, Clark (U12) and Justin (U10) both won 1st place in their respective age groups. S. Rost (U12) earned 3rd place for her efforts. N. Blasey (U16) took home 2nd place with two more solid runs. Finally, C. Mosholder (U12), T. Mosholder (U12), D. Kukla (U14), and R. Castracani (U10) all finished one or both of their runs in their 1st USSA race.
We have practice Friday from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Coach Eric will meet racers on Imperial. This will be a slalom based practice. If you are able to help Eric setup and tear down, please meet him on Imperial at 7 PM.
There is also a fundamentals practice on Saturday from 9 AM until Noon for those not racing at Seven Springs. Those planning to practice should meet the coaches outside old Glaciers. There is no practice on Sunday.
The Philip Dupres Memorial Slalom Race is scheduled to be held at 7 Springs on Saturday, February 2nd. This is a derby qualifier for U10, U12, U14, and U16. On-line registration is available now via the WPRC website. If your racer is planning to compete, registration should be completed by January 28th The race entry fee is $35. PLEASE NOTE!!! Parking is expected to be extremely limited because of the snowboarding competition. Probably best to leave a few minutes earlier than usual.
HVRC will hold its annual Race Clinic on February 9th and 10th. The cost for a non-HVRC member is $140. The clinic will run from 10 AM – 3 PM on Saturday and 10 AM – Noon on Sunday. Registration includes entry into the Open Cup on Sunday at 1 PM. You may register your racer via email to me or sign up with Ski School. Payment by cash or check is due Saturday, February 9th. All racers including club members are to meet in the Yukon. Please be booted up and ready to go by 9:45 AM. Racers will be served lunch both Saturday and Sunday. For club members, we are assuming that you will be attending the race clinic. If you are not attending the clinic, please let me know immediately.
Deb Hessinger will be organizing food for lunch on Race Clinic Saturday (Feb 9th). We are asking race club parents to contact her and sign up to bring food and to help serve lunch. We expect racers, coaches, and helpers to begin arriving about 12 Noon. We want to have everyone fed and back on the slopes by 1 PM. K. Wiley is managing a pizza lunch on Race Clinic Sunday before Open Cup starts. Please advise her if you can assist with serving.
Special Olympics is scheduled for February 11th and 12th. This is one of the our volunteer events for Hidden Valley. If you are available to help, please advise Steve Jupena or Ralph Manson. We need to know who can commit for one or both days for planning purposes.
Our Annual Meeting and year end banquet is scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd. Mark your calendars if you have not already done so. Details will be forthcoming.
