J3 and J4/5 State Derbies are by invitation only. Your racer must have completed one more than half of the available runs at regional USSA races (each race is two runs) to be eligible. Racers are invited if they have completed the minimum number of runs and their placement in those runs has earned them enough points to place them within the racer quota from our region. For both J3 and J4/5, there will be five races completed by February 6th. Barring any changes, this means (6) of the (10) runs must be completed to be eligible.
For those interested, PARA runs a gatekeeping certification program that can be done online.
Our annual Race Clinic is scheduled for Saturday/Sunday, February 11-12. Club parents should plan on assisting with clinic activities. The clinic includes a ski swap (see below).
We have been advised that Special Olympics is scheduled for Monday/Tuesday, February 13th-14th. If you are available to help with set-up and teardown, please advise either Ralph or Steve.
We encourage HVRC families to dig through their closets for used snow apparel and ski equipment that you’ve outgrown. Two ways to turn them into cash:
1) You may post them on the HVRC “Craig’s list” for sale. Do you have a closet filled with outgrown or no longer used ski apparel, boots, or equipment? Here’s all you have to do:
Send an email to Sandy Blasey. Include a short description of the item, including brand, size, color, men’s/women/s/youth, and the price you’d like to get. If price is flexible, say so. If you’d like to include a photo, simply add it as an attachment. Make sure to include an email address where potential buyers can contact you. The item will be posted on the race website, but it will be up to the buyer to contact the seller directly. Once a transaction has occurred, send Sandy an email and she will remove the item from the website.
2) We will be holding a Ski Equipment and Clothing Swap during the Clinic Weekend February 11th and 12th. Please bring your clean items for sale. Drop off items to be sold beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11th. Please mark each item with a piece of masking tape listing your name and the price. Return by 3 p.m. Sunday February 12th to pick up any unsold items.
You will receive a check in the mail for any sold items less a 20% donation to HVRC.
Questions about USED apparel and equipment? Contact Sandy.
