We have adjusted the practices scheduled this week 9:00 AM to Noon on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. We are adding a club ski at 9:15 AM on Friday now that the races at 7 Springs have been cancelled (see below). The practices Tuesday and Thursday will be GS on Cobra or Imperial and the Wednesday/Saturday practices will be slalom on either Cobra or Imperial or Thunderbird, depending on conditions. Racers should meet outside old Glaciers; booted up and ready to ski at 9:00 AM. The coaches will meet you there. If you are able to assist with practice set-up, check in with Ralph at 8:30 at the lift operations office.
Friday’s club ski will be a chance to do some work on fundamentals along with some free skiing with available coaches. There will not be any gates set for the club ski. Parents are encouraged to come along. For the club ski, we’ll meet outside old Glaciers at 9:15 AM.
The races at 7 Springs this Friday have been cancelled due to weather. J1-J3 racers that registered online to compete in the Vector Races at 7 Springs on Friday, December 30th should be hearing from WPRC tomorrow about entry fee refunds.
HVRC thanks Hidden Valley Mountain Operations for the phenomenal job they have done getting the mountain open! We’re amazed at the amount of terrain available considering the weather has been most uncooperative. We find ourselves fortunate to be skiing as we hear that many eastern resorts are not yet open. Many thanks to the HV folks for a job extremely well done.
J1 – J6 racers planning to compete in the Snow Capitol GS at 7 Springs on Saturday, January 7th should be registering by December 30th. For those racers that have not competed in a USSA race, this is a good one to choose for your first USSA race. Please let the coaches know if you are planning to race so we can advise you on procedures.
J1 – J6 racers planning to compete in the OhioPrints Slalom at 7 Springs on Saturday, January 14th should be registering by January 6th. For those racers that have not competed in a USSA slalom race, please discuss with the coaches if you are interested in competing. We normally recommend that racers have competed in a USSA GS event before trying slalom. Please let the coaches know if you are planning to race so we can advise you on procedures.
Liability form, club applications, and club dues for your racer(s) are due now. Returning members do not need to fill out a club application unless your address and contact info has changed. If you have not already done so, club dues may be turned in to Ralph, Kathy, or Kevin. Checks should be made payable to “HVRC”.
